This tour features 8 days of immersive game drives across Kenya and Tanzania, with stops at the iconic Masai Mara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. You'll start your adventure in Nairobi and conclude in Arusha. Depending on the location of the Great Migration, we can focus the tour on either the Masai Mara or the Serengeti. The entire tour is customizable to suit your preferences.

Detailed Itinerary

Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) you will be met by Signature Safaris’ representative and drive you to your accommodation in Nairobi for overnight stay waiting for your adventures to start on the following day.

Destination: Nairobi City

On the inaugural day of your classic safari, your driver will greet you either at the airport or your Nairobi hotel. After a comprehensive briefing about the entire safari, your journey will commence towards Lake Nakuru National Park, approximately a 3-4 hour drive. En route, you'll traverse the Great Rift Valley Escarpment, where a pause will allow for capturing stunning photographs and taking in the panoramic vistas of the Escarpment, spanning from the Middle East in the north to Mozambique in the south. This geologically active area features volcanoes, hot springs, and geysers. Upon arrival at the park, there will be time for check-in and lunch. You may choose to relax with a siesta or freshen up before embarking on an afternoon game drive at Lake Nakuru National Park. Renowned for its migratory flamingoes and boasting around 350 other bird species, the park is also a sanctuary for the endangered black and white rhino species.
Your day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at the Lodge.

Start your day with an early morning breakfast, followed by checking out from Lake Nakuru to head towards Masai Mara, a scenic 5-hour drive. Enjoy en route game drives through Lake Nakuru National Park, adding an extra layer of adventure to your journey. Upon arrival at Masai Mara, you'll have time for check-in and a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, set off on a thrilling game drive across Masai Mara until sunset. This renowned national reserve boasts a mesmerizing array of wild and rugged landscapes, along with warm and hospitable people, and a captivating diversity of wildlife, both big and small. The highlight of the reserve is undoubtedly the epic Great Wildebeest Migration, which sees over 1.5 million wildebeests crossing its vast savannahs from July to October each year. Later, return to the camp for a delightful dinner and your overnight stay.

After breakfast, we embark on a full-day game drive with a packed lunch provided. The reserve is renowned for its black-maned lions and abundant resident wildlife, and it's one of the few places where you can spot the Big Five during a morning game drive. Many cheetahs in the reserve are so accustomed to vehicles that they often seek shade beneath them and occasionally climb onto the roofs for a better view of potential prey. Bird enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that almost 500 species have been recorded here, including 16 species of eagles, numerous hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 species of bustards (including the Kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and 9 species of sunbirds.

njoy an early morning breakfast, check out with lunch boxes, and then make your way to the Tanzanian border post at Isebania, where you will meet our Tanzanian liaison for your transfer to the Serengeti. Please ensure you have a valid visa to enter Tanzania as visa application arrival can cost you a lot of time. After clearing at the Kenya/Tanzania border of Isebania, you'll exchange your vehicle after immigration formalities. The driving itself, although long, is spectacular. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in the local language, "endless plains". It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and all kinds of antelopes. You will check in at the Embalakai Camp in the evening.

As you crest the hillside, the vast Serengeti unfolds before you, stretching as far as the eye can see. Serengeti, meaning "endless plains" in Kiswahili, spans 6,900 square miles (18,000 square km) and is home to over two million large animals, including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson's gazelles. Large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are drawn to the area by the abundance of prey migrating throughout the park. Numerous smaller animals, including rock hyraxes, bat-eared foxes, mongooses, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, and African hares, also inhabit this diverse ecosystem, along with nearly 500 species of birds.
You'll enjoy an afternoon game drive en route to the campsite. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at a public campsite or private tented camp/lodge.

Destination: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Early morning after breakfast, you will drive straight from Northern Serengeti to Ngorongoro conservation area en-route whereby you will arrive in the late afternoon at your accommodation on the rim of the crater for relaxation, dinner and overnight before your game drive inside the crater on the following day.

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, you will descend down the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 square kilometres, with sides up to 600 metres deep and is home to approximately 30,000 mammals. The crater floor consists of a number of different habitats that include grassland, swamps, forests and Lakes filled by the Munge River.  All these various environments attract wildlife to drink, wallow, graze, hide or climb.  The crater offers a breathtakingly beautiful scenery and is the best place in East Africa to see the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and rarely leopard). Any safari in northern Tanzania should ideally include a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater. It is one of the most beautiful nature safari locations in the world and an extraordinary place to meet people from the Massai tribe. The Ngorongoro Crater offers excellent birding, with over 500 species. You will have packed picnic lunch boxes with you and after having lunch at the picnic site, you will proceed with game drive until the late afternoon where you will ascend the crater and drive straight to Arusha where your adventures end with us. If you would like to have an extra night in Arusha, we can arrange that for you or if you are flying, we will drive you straight to the airport to catch your onwards flight.
