Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing

At 19,340 ft., Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the largest free-standing mountain in the world. The lower reaches of this this huge dormant volcano is surrounded by mountain forests which accommodate unique flora and fauna. The reaches just above that is characterized by Moorland bespeckled with giant senecio and lobelia. The upper reaches comprises of rugged and rocky surface covered with ice which lead up to the summit crater which intermittently emits sulphur gas. Uhuru peak which is the highest point in Africa is just above the crater floor. Kilimanjaro in the recent years has become the most popular trekking destination in Africa.

Climbing Kilimanjaro has become increasingly popular in recent years. Marangu Route stopped operating after 1995 after it was closed by African Environments in an effort to better the trekking experience. Plans are underway to develop new routes through the western side of the mountain. Our clients on these western routes not only enjoy a pristine wilderness experience, they also ascend more gradually, allowing their bodies to acclimatize more fully to the extreme elevations. Journey through this route also is far more pleasant and puts us in a good position against any life threatening high altitude medical problems.
